Friends of Crystal Park

Welcome to the Friends of Crystal Park.

Friends of Crystal Park is a collective of dedicated individuals, families and businesses in the area surrounding Crystal Park.  We are committed to the care, upkeep and safety of the park and the surrounding community.

The goal of our initiative is to; Re-group as a community of neighbors, Re-focus on our neighborhood, and Re-gain our voice as a community as we Re-image our park and local community.

The Friends of Crystal Park desire to define who we are in our neighborhood and not let our neighborhood define how we live and who we are.

Crystal Park is the centerpiece of our community.  It acts as a keystone, holding together the streets and blocks that make up the tenth ward of the city of Lancaster.  Our Neighborhood is full of historical significance and serves as a gateway to the surrounding city.  We long to see its progress in development, enrichment, and preservation.

Friends of Crystal Park History...

The Friends of Crystal Park started in late 2007, when local dedicated individuals out of the Lancaster Vineyard Church, who had history to this side of town adopted Crystal Park.  In the early planning stages they contacted the Public Works of Lancaster's City Parks Department.  They expressed their care for the neighborhood and their desires to be dedicated to the care, upkeep and preservation of Crystal Park through incorporating the neighborhood. After receiving the go ahead from the Lancaster City's Park Department; Friends of Crystal Park was born.  The Friends of Crystal Park from the beginning has been about; "Neighbors Helping Neighbors to build a better Neighborhood."

The Neighborhood / Lancaster Vineyard Church partnership that is the Friends of Crystal Park, has already planned several successful park clean up events and flower plants.  They hope to see more community based events and activities in the park, as well as more park clean ups. In the fall of 2008, Friends of Crystal Park, sponsored a fall fest and attracted over 700 attendees!  More then 600 hot dogs and sodas were handed out through the sponsorhip of the Lancaster Vineyard Church.  Cylo from the Barnstormers and Local firefighters joined in for the community day, which also featured a BIG bounce house, Dj'd music and lots of games.

The Friends of Crystal Park was created to help the Lancaster City's Park Department, by filling in the void where they can; because they understand the Parks Department is busy and cannot be all things in all places.  So the F.O.C.P have come along side to offer their help for a community they live, work and play in as well as willing to care for.

The surrounding community and area of Crystal Park is rich in history, culture and character. The Friends of Crystal Park hope to celebrate that through events in the park and seeing neighbors working together to improve the park through like minded mission; this will give the neighbors a sense of a voice, community and meanwhile keeping the park a safe clean place for the kids.  They hope it becomes contagious and seen like-minded visions spread block by block.

The Friends of Crystal Park is not associated with Public Works of Lancaster City, the Park & Public Property Department or any Government office. The Collective cannot make decisions, comments, or handle management duties of the Park. Anything of any sort of important nature should be handled with the Park & Public Property Department of Lancaster City’s Public Works.
